It took long enough! I have lusted to take pictures of the Aurora for many years. I have seen it once or twice as a faint glow on the horizon. I have planned to go to Iceland several times with an aurora goal but never made it. You have to be lucky with the weather and diligent in checking Space Weather for the right conditions. It is very rare for the aurora to be strong enough to make it as far south as Wisconsin. Friday morning (3/25) was the day! A massive coronal ejection, 20 times the size of earth, occurred three days prior, resulting in a Kp7 solar storm (on a scale of 1-9). The moon was new, so not a problem, and I was planning on taking milky way pictures over the Algoma lighthouse. I got up at 2 AM as the alerts went wild. Already prepare camera wise, I hopped in the car looking for the perfect farm field (I wanted a barn also! lol). Nailed it. This is panorama of three, shot at 20 mm, f2.8, iso1600 6s. SUCCESS! Now I am hooked!
